I don’t think the sun will blow up because it’s not big enough (according to the physics people). I hope you’re not worrying about this! Our sun has enough fuel to go on for another five billion years or so. At the end of its life, the Sun will begin to swell up, becoming so large that it will swallow the Earth. Eventually it will suddenly collapse into a white dwarf. It may take a trillion years to completely cool down.
I don’t think the world will end in 2012 and I guess the people who label food with expiration dates in 2013 are similarly optimistic!

Just think, if you stock up all the foods that expire after 2012 then if the world didn’t end, you’ll be laughing in your huge warehouse full of food at the people who weren’t as clever as you! 😛

Hehe! I just answered a similar question. If the sun blew up we wouldnt find out until 8 minutes later, because thats how long light takes to travel from the Sun to the Earth. And maybe people are being optimistic thats why they are still making food. 🙂
Also another silly little fact, its the ancient Mayan calender that predicts the world will end in 2012. But historians are unsure whether Mayans took into account leap years, so according to the Mayan calender 2012 could have been a few years ago!

The simple answer to the first is that if the sun blows up, then we are all in deep trouble! To answer the second question, more than likely the world isnt going to end in 2012, but no one knows when and how exactly.
