Sadly they are still melting. They are melting into the sea and the sea level is slowly rising.

      Hi:

Sorry I don’t really know much about the processes of the melting icebergs, but I know it’s also happening to the glaciers on top of mountains. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has issued a statement here: http://is.gd/Htxmnw

NASA has also made an excellent video, watch this! http://climate.nasa.gov/warmingworld/

But as the earth warms up as a whole, many different things will happen, such as change in rain-fall patterns leading to water shortages, more extreme weather events like cyclones, floods and earthquakes, etc. So it’s not just the polar bears that would be affected, all of us will be!

The amount of ice floating in the polar oceans is decreasing due to melting. This melting is causing sea levels to rise – by a tiny bit right now, but possibly much more if melting trends continue. You can read more about it here: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/04/100428142258.htm

The water from them ends up in the sea, Islands in the Pacfic ocean such as Samoa and Tuvalu are already being affected, with people having to move and the drinking water turning salty.
