Great question! Very rarely, most people who have good immune systems can fight the infection themselves. Antibiotics are only really given to the very old, babies or pregnant women. Although we regularly use antibiotics in the lab, Campylobacter is naturally resistant to many types of antibiotics, so in the lab we add antibiotics to our bacteria to make sure everything but the Campylobacter bacteria is killed, so we have pure bacteria.
