Astrobiology! I’ve been reading about this lately as something I want to do when I finish my current project. Its the science of analysing the reactions of bacteria when exposed to zero gravity and space. The idea is to find out how they could be useful in helping man travel long spaces missions, and also to analyse the potential risk of astronauts carrying bacteria to other planets or the moon!

I’d be some sort of geologist – I find the science behind earthquakes and volcanoes fascinating.

I don’t know how specific or broad you mean when you say ‘area you currently study’. I’d like to study life in the deep trenches of the oceans. If it has to be outside of biology I would go with geophysics and study underwater volcanoes. If it has to be non-marine I guess I’d stick with geophys and study them on land instead. 🙂

I would go research into the science of depression. It involves the brain, is complicated and affects a lot of people. So I think that would be really worthwhile

Bioengineering, just as it sounds, looking for engineering solutions for biological problems.
