As a scientist, it is often frustrating the way that science is depicted and reported in the media like newspapers and television. Newspapers with headlines such as ‘A new cure for cancer’ are often misleading and incorrect and never really get into the facts. The realitity is that science is complex and more research and investigation is always need. Its also scary when politicians are making decisions sometimes based on this! So I think the world needs more scientists in higher positions and the general public need a better understanding of what science is and how it actually works.

As I said in the chat, I would probably chose to make everyone equal in the sense that we should all be able to get what we need to live a long and happy lives. This would include obvious things like enough food to eat, clean water and a warm and safe place to sleep. But also things like to be healthy and able to get treatments needed if they fall ill, or if they want go to university but cannot afford it they should be given help.

I would like mankind to change its view of itself. We have only been in existence for a very short period of time and there is a widely held perception that man can conquer all and has a ‘god given’ right to the Earth and all who inhabit it. We need to take a more humble approach and treat each other and the planet we live on with more consideration.

I agree with Wei that more even sharing of resources would make a huge difference to billions of people.
