Question: Are there risks in studying bacteria that are able to survive in such high tempuratures, because of difficulties with destroying the bacteria once they have been studied?

  I don’t study vent bacteria so it’s hard for me to answer your question. As far as I know it is safe to study them; this has been an important area of research and I think I would have heard about any major risks if there were any. There is nobody here for me to pass your question on to but if I manage to find out more I’ll add a comment.
